Senior Pastor

Grassfied Baptist Church, 1772 Cedar Road, Chesapeake is seeking a part-time or bi-vocational senior pastor.  We are located in the center of Grassfield, which is a thriving and growing community in Chesapeake, Virginia.  With excellent schools and supportive community service organizations, the Grassfield area is a highly sought after community for families looking to relocate to new homes in growing neighborhoods.  GBC is a family oriented church with 61 years of traditional worship.  We average 40-45 people in Sunday worship service and 15-18 on Wednesday nights for Bible study and prayer service. In addition, we are affiliated the Bridge Network of Churches, the Baptist General Association of Virginia, and the Southern Baptist Convention. 

 

We desire someone who communicates God’s word through applying Biblical principles to today’s daily life through well prepared sermons and showing Christ Jesus through word and action. Education and Experience:

Hollies Baptist Church, 17691 Hollies Church Road, Keller, VA 23401) a small, conservative Southern Baptist church is seeking the man God would have as: Pastor, Part-time or bi-vocational; or transitional/interim pastor to help the church to be true to its mission statement to impact the world with the truth and love of Jesus Christ.

Youth and Children's Minister

Bayside Baptist Church,  1920 Pleasure House Road, Virginia Beach 23455. 

Is seeking a part-time Children’s Ministry Director. We are looking for someone who loves Jesus, has a passion to disciple children, and who can lead our children’s ministry team to help kids know, love, and follow Jesus.

 

Specific Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee and coordinate all aspects of Sunday morning children’s ministry, including Sunday School and Children’s Worship and Wednesday night ministry events.

  2. Organize and lead key children’s ministry events, such as VBS, Summer Camp, and Fall Festival.

  3. Regularly teach a Baptism Class for children.

  4. Ensure all children’s ministries events are safe, sanitary, fun, while promoting Christ-centered spiritual growth.

  5. Recruit, train, place, support, and monitor volunteer leaders.

  6. Schedule regular meetings for training, planning, and care.

  7. Work with the Administrator to develop, submit, and monitor the children’s ministry budget.

  8. Provide care for children and families within the church through prayer, visiting, follow-up, and discipleship.

 

Qualifications: 

  1. A mature Christian who is growing in their personal walk with the Lord through committed Bible Study, prayer and service. 

  2. A clear calling to ministry.

  3. An understanding of children’s ministry as a foundational ministry of the church.

  4. Ability to lead a team of volunteers by casting vision for the ministry and organizing the skills and talents of those team members. 

  5. Ability to relate well to parents and ministry volunteers. 

  6. Knowledge of developmental stages for children grades pre-k through 5 and ability to choose and implement appropriate programming for those stages. 

  7. Effective communicator, both written and verbal. 

  8. A display of such desirable qualities as teamwork, cooperation, dependability, organization, hard work, respect, and a teachable spirit.

  9. In agreement with the “Baptist Faith and Message 2000” and Bayside’s mission, vision, and values.

Youth Minister/Director

New Song Fellowship, 865 Woodstock Road, Virginia Beach 23464.  New Song is a Southern Baptist Church in the Kempsville area of Virginia Beach.  We are seeking a youth director who will lead our students to follow Christ and impact the world with the gospel.

We have four main priorities for this position.  (1) Someone who can bring strong, biblical, engaging, age-appropriate teaching for our students.  (2) Someone who can relate well and build healthy, encouraging relationships with our students.  (3) Someone who can plan and execute engaging fellowship activities for our students.  And (4) someone who will lead collaboratively with church leadership, parents, and volunteers for a well-rounded, healthy youth ministry that integrates well with the church as a whole.

We are a small church (approximately average Sunday morning attendance is 100).  Our church holds to the Baptist Faith & Message (2000) as our statement of faith.  We partner with the Southern Baptist Convention, the SBC of Virginia, and The Bridge Network of Churches.  We are elder-led, theologically conservative, and evangelical in perspective.

This position is a volunteer role at this time.  We believe there is potential to expand this role into a part-time staff position at some point in the future, depending on a number of factors.

Church Custodian Job Description

We are looking for a proactive, efficient church custodian who possesses an understanding of proper cleaning methods. The church custodian will maintain clean buildings and grounds, conducting basic building and grounds maintenance, and minor repairs. You will make minor repairs, change light bulbs, vacuum, sweep, and scrub floors, sanitize surfaces, and restock items, such as toilet paper, paper towels, and other supplies. You will also maintain supply inventory, submit purchase requests, and assist with preparations for events.

Church Custodian Responsibilities

  • Maintaining clean church facilities by performing weekly duties and daily spot cleaning in all public areas of the building, including bathrooms, sanctuary, kitchens, and meeting rooms.

  • Observing proper chemical handling procedures when working with cleaning agents, including wearing gloves, goggles, or masks and following written or verbal instructions.

  • Assisting with event preparations and clean-up.

  • Taking inventory of cleaners and other supplies and submitting requests when items need to be replenished.

  • Interacting with church staff and visitors in a respectful, positive manner.

Church Custodian Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Custodial experience or training may be required.

  • Understanding of cleaning techniques and safety procedures.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and pass a background check and pre-employment drug screening.

  • Effective communication, comprehension, and interpersonal skills.

  • Flexibility to adjust their schedule to suit the needs of the church.

  • Motivation to work independently or with others to provide thorough, efficient custodial services to the church.
